computeとcalculate

「CombinedHashを計算する」を英語でcalcuate CombinedHashって訳してふと思ったのだけど、CombinedHashはcalculateするものなのだろうか、computeするものなのだろうか。気になったので英英辞書を調べてみた：

calculate:

1. to determine or ascertain by mathematical methods; compute: to calculate the velocity of light.
